Methodology and Structure of Wing Cheun

The Wing Cheun system is a revolutionary concept in martial art’s system design. Most martial systems in East Asia used forms or katas as a representation of an imaginary combat scenario. Unfortunately, this methodology of instruction leaves many students to get delusion on how to deal with combat situations that change drastically from one movement to another. Fortunately, this is what separates the Wing Cheun system from these other martial arts systems.

The Wing Cheun system has broken away from the concept of predetermined combat movements into a set of positions that could be interchange to meet any combat scenario. Hence, the forms in the Wing Cheun system represent a dictionary of positions that could be draw upon to make sentences of movements from the grammar of theories to complete the final essay of a fight. I know the previous sentence might sound confusing. Nevertheless, the Wing Chun system does not use present of movements for any combat scenario. Sound and sensible movements depended on a serious of theories which are eight in total.

Every student comes to the system with likes and dislikes along with different body structures. This methodology of instruction allows students develop their own Kung Fu independently of the instructor’s preferences and tailor design the system to their personal likes and dislikes. In addition, the student will be able to append additional martial art’s movements from other styles to meet a variety of combat scenarios as long as the position or movement follows fundamental theories of the Wing Cheun system.

Wing Cheun Kung Fu Kwoons teaches every student to independently tailor their Kung Fu to their personal preferences. Always remember, a student will never get a higher skill level than the instructor by coping the instructor’s movements. Hence, the student would be only a carbon copy of the instructor. Of course, a carbon copy is always inferior to the original. At the end of your training, the Wing Cheun system of Kung Fu will be personalized to you as the Student, Disciple, and Master.
